Nashkel Mines 6
The Nashkel Mines are potentially dangerous since they have been overrun by Kobolds. Though they are easy to fight, they come in great numbers and their arrows sometimes strike true and cause some damage to your party. In the lower levels, watch-out for traps and Kobold Commandoes, who fire Arrows of Fire. 1- XAN: Xan (LN, Elf Male, Enchanter) is a wandering elf from Evereska who was sent by his people to investigate the disturbances in the region. He will join you in your quest, “as hopeless at it may be”. He is really annoying because he seems to be already defeated, but he does wield one of the best weapons in the game: a Moonblade(+3, +1 AC, +50% Fire Resisitance). You’ll find the Moonblade in Mulahey’s chest. 2- MULAHEY: The evil half-orc cleric sent by Tazok to run the operation at the mines. However, it seems like Mulahey thought that he was the boss now and did not respect Tazok’s orders. When he first sees you, he thinks that you have been sent by Tazok to dismiss him. No matter what, he attacks you and also summons 6 Kobolds and 6 Skeletons to his aid. If he asks for mercy during the fight, do not give him any, as he will summon more monsters. Missile weapons and the mage spell Horror do wonders in this battle. Mulahey is worth 650 Exp. and also has some Boots of Grounding, Ring of Holiness and gold on him. After the fight, be sure to open his chest. You’ll find 1 Potion of Absorption, 2 Potions of Healing, a Short Sword +1, 730 gp., Xan’s Moonblade and the spells: Armor, Infravision, Charm, Sleep, Identify and Web. There are also 2 letters which point to the fact that Mulahey was working for Tazok and that one of Tazok’s men, Tranzig, can be found in Beregost at the Feldpost’s Inn. |
